On our train to the Ars Electronica Festival 2019 we stumbled upon the possibility of joining the annual hackathon in the design category, so we did. The objective of the 24 hour spanning challenge was to create something "design-y" using the "unicorn hybrid black eeg", a device used to measure the wearer's brainwaves and heart-rate. "Mindscapes" converts the participant's brainwaves into oscillating patterns, dependent on mood and excitement. Our unique approach and the newly written tool got us first place and the possibility to continue our work on the installation.
Marvel at a rendering of Katja's brainwaves at around 5 am and more on the website.
